What our Motivation is.

Climate change and the shortage of fossil fuels force the world to rethink industrial production. Electrochemistry is a rapidly growing field of research, as it offers renewable resources, high flexibility, and a wide range of undiscovered possibilities. electrochemical CO2 reduction, electrochemical production of platform chemicals, electrochemical hydrogen compression, and water electrolysis are only a few examples of what electrochemistry can do for the world.

During our experimental work, we experienced that developing new electrochemical processes often starts with developing an electrochemical flow cell. Electrochemical flow cells, especially in research, are often custom-made and tailored to a specific process. On the one hand, this makes scientific results difficult to compare. On the other hand, a new cell has to be developed for each new reaction - a very time- and work-consuming process. This was the starting point where the idea for flex-E-cell was born.
